Did you ever see the movie "Pi"? I think what is transpiring here is analogous to what happened prior to the trepanning scene in that movie. I'm pretty sure I've figured out who plays Devi, but I remain unsure which of you is Sol and who is Lenny. Any day now I'm expecting to be stopped in the street by a lady proffering money and hardware.
