UPDATE 1 - Bulgaria's GDP growth slows down to 3.3% y/y in Q3 - prelim data

SOFIA (Bulgaria), December 7 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's economic output rose by a real 3.3% on the year in the third quarter of 2022, decelerating from an annual increase of 4.0% in the previous quarter, the statistical office said on Wednesday.

In quarterly terms, Bulgaria's gross domestic product (GDP) edged up 0.6% in the July-September period, after 0.8% growth between April and June, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement, citing preliminary and seasonally-adjusted data.

Bulgaria's GDP amounted to 44.96 billion levs ($24.1 billion/23 billion euro) at current prices in the third quarter of 2022. The GDP per person amounted to 6,601 levs in the review period.

The NSI slightly revised upwards its November flash data estimate of 3.2% third-quarter GDP growth.

The gross value added (GVA) generated by the national economy in the third quarter of 2022 rose 3.1% on the year to reach some 39.5 billion levs at current prices, mostly due to growth in the mining, manufacturing, energy and water utilities sectors.

Exports accelerated their annual growth, although there was a noticeable decline in their quarterly increase.
