Diesel margins end week higher
Benchmark Northwest European diesel barge refining margins ended the week higher as imports into the region slowed down after months of stock builds.
Gasoil stocks held in independent storage in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) refining and storage rose by about 3% in the week to Thursday, data from Dutch consultancy Insights Global showed.
Gasoil stocks rose to 2.35 million tonnes on the back of slowing demand from inland locations along the Rhine river and as some local refineries returned into operation after maintenance, Insights Global's Lars van Wageningen said.
European diesel arrivals in May reached 6 million tonnes, down from 6.98 million tonnes in April, according to Refinitiv analyst Raj Rajendran.
Concern about the global economy dampened the oil market's reaction to Saudi Arabia's pledge to cut supplies and has capped prices this year, a Chevron executive told Reuters on Thursday.
