Kennedy, who spoke favorably about Bitcoin at the Miami-based Bitcoin Conference, took action and bought two bitcoins for each of his seven children after the event, when Bitcoin was trading at around $27,000. Now, with Bitcoin's current price sitting at roughly $29,500, those 14 bitcoins have surged in value to almost $414,000.
Showing unwavering support for the cryptocurrency, Kennedy recently pledged that if he becomes president, he will exempt Bitcoin from capital gains taxes and back the U.S. dollar with hard assets like bitcoin.
Interestingly, there was a discrepancy in Kennedy's stance on Bitcoin. While he claimed earlier that he was not an investor in the cryptocurrency, a financial disclosure form dated June 30 revealed he held between $100,001 and $250,000 worth of Bitcoin. Initially attributing the ownership to RFK's wife, the campaign later clarified that the assets did, in fact, belong to Kennedy himself.
