The technicals for 
AAPL heading into earnings show the price level is approaching a resistance area, there are shrinking bands which flag a strong move waiting for a triggering event, negative momentum divergence, negative volume divergence, and Support at 170. It makes sense it will try another big shake of the tree to try to gather "cheap" shares and go for another try to break the ATH, or to start doing higher lows and lower highs towards a consolidation to trade inside the range.
The closest triggering event is ER. let's see how it behaves, but so far, the technical levels flag a bearish leg.
