Revisiting Gann's Cyclic Theory.... is it really 84 or 67?
So I have been thinking a fair amount about Gann recently.... a notoriously cryptic man. He publicly discussed his 84 year cycle theory, mentioning the fact that approximately every 17 years or so 'a new group of men enters the workforce', and the average human lifespan is approximately 84 years. 84/17 is approximately equal to 5.
Now lets think a little bit deeper about this theory of 17, 84, and the 'gann box' or 'gann square of 9'
So typical of Gann to hide things in plain sight, all while still being cryptic enough that many will never spot the truth.
In Gann's last book 'The Magic Word' he cryptically discusses Jehovah for the entirety of the book and the ties between religion and numerology; however, on pages 84 and 85 he discusses how 'Jehovah' is really just one of the names for God, and one of the names the Jewish people have historically used was 'Yod He Vau He'. He also says the phrase 'I am God, Love'
3 syllables to be repeated 3 times a day... Gann makes sure to emphasize this all through the book... however on page 84-85 the direct quote is:
"'The Jews' name for God is YOD HE VAU HE, a word of four syllables containing ten letters or one of the perfect numbers.This word can be used or vibrated the same as Jehovah. In ancient times the people understood how to use things not only on three plains but into the fourth dimension, which is one of the reasons the Jews used the name containing four syllables instead of three."
The 4th dimension, 4 syllables. Only discussed once in the entire book.
Now think back to how popular the 'Gann Box' and 'Gann Square of 9' have been in the popular discussions of Gann . So much focus on angles and support and resistance .... however, I believe there may be a more cryptic meaning to these 'tools'.... boxes, squares, whatever you would like to call them are four sided... not five sided. More ramblings but this time mildly related to numerology: 17, 1+7=8, perfectly divisible by 4. 8+4=12, also perfectly divisible by 4.... 9 isnt, 3 isnt, 5 isnt...
Perhaps this is a stretch of the imagination, but what if Gann was pointing to the fact that although the lifespan of a human, and the time it takes Uranus to orbit the sun, is ~= 17*5= 84 years, the 'effective lifespan' in the market is really 3-4 cycles of 17 instead of the 5 cycles of 17 presented in his popular idea of the 84 year cycle.
This makes some sense to me, and I have presented a chart here that may help illustrate what I mean: A 17 year cycle of strength, a 17 year cycle of weakness, a 17 year cycle of strength, a 17 year cycle of weakness, etc.
I've marked some major events as well.
Just some crazy thoughts I had today while after reading 'The Magic Word'
Even if you aren't able to follow the 'logic' (that word is used loosely here, as interpreting the cryptic ramblings of a man long dead is not really 'logical') I hope the chart with some alternative cyclic drawings will be useful for us to observe over time.
