Constitution DAO was a decentralized autonomous organization formed in November 2021 by web3 enthusiasts. Its primary goal was to purchase an original copy of the U.S. Constitution at a Sotheby’s Auction. This initiative was significant due to the rarity of the document, with only 13 original copies in existence, leading to a competitive auction.
The operational mechanism of Constitution DAO involved using Juicebox to collect donations in Ether 
ETHUSD from a large number of online participants. It rapidly gained traction, amassing a community of 20,000 members and raising over $47 million. This fundraising effort was propelled by viral marketing that included Nicolas Cage memes and the crypto-specific (x,x) meme, although it ultimately fell short due to unaccounted auction house fees and storage costs.
