Feel free to optimize this strategy, optimizing its parameters. Each asset has its own "personality".
Keltner Channel - Trend Based StrategyThis strategy is based on 3 main indicators.
1st indicator is a trend indicator, which consists of SMA and EMA
2nd is Keltner Channel
3rd is DM indicator.
The conditions for the entry of this strategy are following:
First of all the assets need to be in an upward trend, this will occur when the EMA will cross SMA. The next condition for the entry is the opening and the closure of the candle. The open price of the candle should be in the upper part of the Keltner Channel and the close price should be above the Keltner channel. The third condition for the DM indicator is to be above a certain benchmakr. This benchmark can be set in the settings of the strategy.
The strategy has two potential Take Profit levels and single stop-loss levels. For the more efficient way you may try an use the trailing stop or extend the number of take-profit levels.
Average Zigzag Range (AZR)Here is an attempt calculate Average Zigzag Range (AZR). This can be used similar to ATR. Using AZR instead of ATR for trailing stop calculation may yield better outcome in trend trading.
Logic is simple.
Calculate zigzag based on ZigzagLength
Calculate distance between each zigzag pivots
Calculate simple moving average of last MALength pivots
Use DoubleMA option to further smooth AZR using a Secondary Moving Average
Strategy TemplateTrying to include few basic things which is needed for strategy which can be used as template.
Few important components
Strategy parameters
Few important parameters include - initial_capital, default_qty_type, default_qty_value, commission_type, pyramiding and commission_value. All my strategies will have similar settings with initial captial set to 20000 to 100000. 100% of equity per trade with no pyramiding (set to 1) and minimal commission.
margin_long and margin_short can be used for leveraged trading. But, since we are not using pyramiding, it will make no effect.
Trade Limiting parameters
Two types of limiting is available in the scripts
Limiting trading direction : this is done through method strategy.risk.allow_entry_in and input parameter tradeDirection
Limiting trades to particular time window : This is achieved through adding start time and end time parameters of type input.time and check whether time is within this window
Custom Methods
customized security method to get higher timeframe data
customized moving average method to get moving average of any type
Custom Parameters
Moving average Type option list which I use quite often. Any strategy where there is need to use moving average, I try to scan through different moving average types and lengths to see which one is more appropriate for the given strategy. Hence, keeping this parameter in template to make it readily available when I start with new strategy
waitForCloseBeforeExit - this is used if trailing stop need to activated as soon as price hits the stop or only on close price. This is again something I switch quite often based on strategy. Hence, keeping this as part of the template.
Entry and Exit statements for long and short
These statements from line (57 to 62) can remain as is even with new strategy. Only thing to be set are variables - buyCondition, sellCondition, closeBuyCondition and closeSellCondition
Last but not the least
In pinescript, a long and short position cannot coexist in a strategy at any point of time. Any short positions created will automatically stop long positions and vice versa. Hence, it is important make short and long trades mutually exclusive. In this example, I have used 200 weekly moving average as trend bias. No short positions are taken when price is trading above 200 weekly moving average low/close and no long positions are taken when price is less than 200 weekly moving average high/close. Any rule built on top of this (In this case a simple supertrend rules) ensures that there are no conflicting signals and hence avoids confusing trades on the stratgy.
TradePro Parabolic SAR BackgroundTradePro Parabolic SAR Background
This indicator is a small tribute to youtuber TradePro
The operation is simple. It is the same Parabolic SAR indicator with its default configuration, but in background format. It is a new way to visualize the same information, more understandably. It is in itself a complete trading system, it can be used in conjunction with the traditional Parabolic SAR to locate the stop loss.
Parabolic SAR
In stock and securities market technical analysis, parabolic SAR (parabolic stop and reverse) is a method devised by J. Welles Wilder, Jr., to find potential reversals in the market price direction of traded goods such as securities or currency exchanges such as forex. It is a trend-following (lagging) indicator and may be used to set a trailing stop loss or determine entry or exit points based on prices tending to stay within a parabolic curve during a strong trend.
Similar to option theory's concept of time decay, the concept draws on the idea that "time is the enemy". Thus, unless a security can continue to generate more profits over time, it should be liquidated. The indicator generally works only in trending markets, and creates "whipsaws" during ranging or, sideways phases. Therefore, Wilder recommends first establishing the direction or change in direction of the trend through the use of parabolic SAR, and then using a different indicator such as the Average Directional Index to determine the strength of the trend.
A parabola below the price is generally bullish, while a parabola above is generally bearish. A parabola below the price may be used as support, whereas a parabola above the price may represent resistance.
Simple Buy/Sell StrategyThis is the strategy version of the original 'Simple Buy/Sell Indicator' by @Shizaru .
The original indicator description explains the logic behind the strategy:
"The original script was posted on ProRealCode by user Doctrading.
This little and simple code allows you to draw an indicator, which show you when buy or sell conditions are met.
For "buy" conditions, I did just set :
close > MM200
close > Parabolic SAR
MACD > 0
RSI7 > 50
For "sell" conditions : the opposite.
Of course, you can set what you want, in order to test your strategies.
Of course, to be profitable, you must also set your trading rules (entry, stop loss, trailing stop, take profit, etc.)
It's only an indicator, which doesn't show entry or exit rules."
Hope this helps someone!
SuperTrend+Based upon popular SuperTrend (AKA: ATR Trailing Stop) indicator with the following differences and improvements:
Defaults to using Volume-Adjusted WMA ( VAWMA ) for ATR. (Can still be configured to behave exactly like classic SuperTrend.)
Can use SMA, EMA, WMA, VWMA, and VAWMA instead of just SMA.
Confirmation close bars for avoiding false breaks.
Details:
If the confirmation closing bars value is greater than zero (default of two bars), the trend will only reverse if the price closes outside the boundary for that number of bars (does not need to be consecutive) or if the opposite side of the bar exceeds the boundary.
The confirmation bar count will reset if the trend has resumed (opposite boundary is broken).
Confirmation examples:
In a down-trend, but the previous two bars close above the boundary.
In a down-trend, but the low of the previous bar exceeds the boundary.
In a down-trend, but the high of the previous bar exceeds the boundary when confirmation bars are set to zero.
CCI & EMA strategy by TradeswithashishThis strategy is extremely useful for positional traders or traders using timeframe 15-minute of higher. It uses following combo of values:
VWAP, CCI, Volume and Moving average (simple and exponential)
Caution:
Avoid taking trade if candle size is greater than twice the average candle size. for that wait for the retracement to near trailing stoploss
Ehlers Distance Coefficient Filter [CC]The Distance Coefficient Filter was created by John Ehlers and this is one of his more unknown moving averages. It works well because in an uptrend or downtrend it behaves more like a trailing stop system but it also deals with issues like pullbacks pretty quickly. I think it works well with the default values but let me know if you find a more profitable system. Buy when the indicator turns green and sell when it turns red.
Let me know if there are any other indicators you would like to see me publish!
Know Sure Thing and EMA Strategy by JLXThis is a simple strategy based in Know Sure Thing indicator and an Exponential moving average,
Rules are as follow:
- You can go long when the KST cross signal bellow 0 and price closes above the target EMA
- You can go short when the KST cross signal above 0 and price closes bellow the target EMA
I include a trailing stop loss, default its 0.5%
Hope you enjoy it
ATR SLHi traders,
As you know, ATR trailing stop is very popular indicator. So I decided to make my own one.
The logic is simple.
If the price is above the RMA(src, len), then put a SL at OPEN - ATR value of that time period
otherwise, put a SL at OPEN + ATR value of that time period.
Stay safe ^^
RedK_9/30 Trader_v1: aka The MusicianThis is my implementation of a simple trading system inspired by the 9/30 trading strategy, which i came across few years ago. i hope some traders are still using it :)
(please google "9/30 trading strategy" if you're not sure what it is)
- the improvements i added focus on: faster (long/short) signals, discovery of best entry "zone", ride the trend
- no exit option, trader can use a pre-set target, a trailing stop, or any other mechanisms
- i tried to explain some of the definitions and rules on the below chart
- in spite if its simplicity, the 9/30 has a lot to offer - different traders will also use it differently and add their own "do's and don't's"
default settings should be adjusted to suit timeframe, type of trader and what is being traded (Stocks, FOREX,..etc) - the concept itself is very flexible and well-tested for mechanical trading.
code-named "The Musician" due to the 5-line plot :)
i will continue to improve this work whenever i find time - i liked it a lot.. (please tag the idea to receive the updates)
Extras and improvements (compared to the classic 9/30 concept)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* signal line is a smoothed zero-lag WMA of a shorter length (responds faster to trend change = faster signal)
* instead of a single longer MA line, we utilize an "average range" -based channel (not ATR, but provides the same concept) to provide the ideal "entry zones" in both directions - an adjustable multiplier is included in the settings to adjust the channel width
* adds an optional long EMA as additional filter (take longs only above, take shorts only below)
* clearer visualization
What's next:
==============
* clean-up code
* add signals (arrow-up & arrow-dn) for entry and for exit
* tri-color signal line (green on long, red on short, gray on no trade)
* other options for the channel (ATR-based, DC center-line..etc)
* other MA-type options for the Filter MA (SMA, WMA ?)
* maybe: convert to strategy and back-test
Please feel free to explore and test - Comments and feedback are welcome.
Good Luck!
Multiple EMAAn exponential moving average (EMA) is a type of moving average (MA) that places a greater weight and significance on the most recent data points. The exponential moving average is also referred to as the exponentially weighted moving average. An exponentially weighted moving average reacts more significantly to recent price changes than a simple moving average (SMA), which applies an equal weight to all observations in the period.
The EMA is a moving average that places a greater weight and significance on the most recent data points.
Like all moving averages, this technical indicator is used to produce buy and sell signals based on crossovers and divergences from the historical average.
Traders often use several different EMA lengths, such as 10-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages.
Points to remember:
Exponential moving averages are more sensitive to the recent price
EMA can signal good trades, but it can also keep you out of bad trades
EMA offers dynamic support and resistance levels, which is good for trailing Stop Loss
The EMA slope shape has hidden secrets
The rules for the EMA trading strategy can be modified to fit your own trading needs. We don’t claim this to be hard rules, but they are good on their own to make for a great trading strategy. Make sure you first test out the EMA strategy on a paper trading account before you risk any of your hard-earned money
Gann HiLo Activator [CC]The HiLo Activator was created by W.D. Gann and I was surprised to not see more of his technical indicators on here. I will start adding more of his indicators on here if I get more interest. This is the original version of the indicator that performs like a trailing stop that also works well as a trend line. Buy when the line turns green and sell when it turns red.
Let me know if there are any other indicators you want me to publish!
Bollinger Blast Buy Unholy GrailThis strategy copy the Nick Radge's trading ideas for a profitable systems. He mentions a Bollinger Band idea which is also published in his book Unholy Grails. Nick says:
he strategy that we did test and showed very promising results was an entry using a Bollinger band and an exit using the opposite Bollinger band, but we use 3 standard deviations for the entry and 1 standard deviation for the exit, just to keep the trailing stop a little bit tighter.”
Entry: Buy on the Open the day after a stock closes above the top Bollinger Band
Exit: Exit on the Open the day after a stock closes below the lower Bollinger Band
Results tested on Nasdaq market are very good and better than simply buy& hold
KJ MagicTrend Magic consists of two main calculation parts as momentum and volatility:
First part is ATR based (like ATR Trailing Stop) logic, second part is all about CCI which also determines the color of Trend Magic.
Blue: when CCI is positive
Red: when CCI is negative
Also added alert condition regarding price crosses :
when LOW CrossesAbove TM
and HIGH CrossesBelow TM
OS HiLo TrackingIndicator plots a dynamic horizontal line for tracking the highest high and/or lowest low in your desired time-period.
You can select both the period, and whether an alert is produced when the price crosses the last highest high or lowest low.
When used when other Williams indicators, this can help you set your trailing stop for profit-taking.
Reversal with Bollinger Bands + RSI + ADX + ATR (Upgraded)Hi,
Welcome to my 4th script.
Someone asked me some questions about the Bollinger Band strategy I previously published. When I went back to my published script I couldn't help myself but simply try and make it better. Which I did.
Since I've published that script, I've gained much more knowledge about how Pinescript functions. As well as gaining more and more knowledge about how the markets are structered etc.
In this reversal script we use 4 indicators to determine good entry signals, we determine whether the market is ranging or trending and we still only want to take trades in the direction of the "trend".
Bollinger Bands are used for our entry signal. When price hits either side of the band, we wait for a reverse candlestick before we enter a position.
RSI is used to determine if we're in a trending market or in a ranging market. You can adjust the values in the inputs. You can determine the minimum RSI value and the maximum RSI value.
ADX is used the same way as RSI, you can adjust the value in the inputs. You can determine the minimum ADX value.
Last but not least we use two EMA's, a 200 EMA and 100 EMA. Both are adjustable through the inputs. I used two EMA's because I noticed when using this strategy that we'd enter a new position often after having a bad trade. Using two EMA's might clean up some signals, in my case with EUR/USD on a 15m timeframe, it didn't clean up enough signals.
All the default values are pretty decent but might require some finetuning on a certain instrument. Don't overfit the strategy though, that'll only give you bad signals in the future.
Then we are off to our exit signals.
Initially I wanted to incorporate my previous Bollinger Band exit signals as well, but it was too much of a hassle to make the script work as intended so I left it out. If you want to use those exit signals, just find my other script.
When we're in a position and price crosses the opposite band, we wait for a reverse candlestick before we exit the position.
Additionally we want our losses to be as small as possible, so we use RSI to signal us when the market is, or starts to, trend against us. This is where you use the minimum and maximum exit values. So when RSI crosses over or under that value, it'll exit the position.
Furthermore, we use the ATR indicator to set our stop loss, which is pretty basic stuff. You can adjust the ATR multiplier in the inputs. Disabling "Use Trailing Stop?" is really inadvisable unless you know this script inside out as your only exit signals will be opposite Bollinger Band Cross and RSI overbought / oversold areas.
[KL] Bollinger Bands Consolidation StrategyThis strategy will enter into long position based on the volatility of prices implied by indicators of (a) Bollinger bands, and (b) ATR.
Application of Bollinger bands ("BOLL")
Using plain vanilla settings for BOLL (i.e. 20 period moving average, and 2 standard deviations of closing prices), we are interested to know about the shape of the area that is bounded by the upper and lower bands.
In theory, consolidation happens when volatility of price decreases. Visually speaking, this is represented by the narrowing of the upper/lower bands. This strategy considers the narrowing of BOLL bands as the primary indicator for long-entry.
Application of ATRs (as confirmations)
Firstly, to confirm that BOLL bands are narrowing (as mentioned above), the ATR at a potential point of entry is compared against the standard deviation of prices over BOLL's lookback periods. Once again, visualizing the shape of BOLL bands during consolidation, we assume the lines begin to squeeze when the distance between the center line and upper/lower band is less than two current ATRs.
Secondly, this strategy looks into the moving average of ATRs to assure that prices are not too choppy when entering into market. If the moving average of ATR decreases at a point in time such that all the above conditions are met, then we can assert that the volatility of price is decreasing.
Thirdly, ATR is used for determining the size of our trailing stop loss. We will keep the multiplier fixed at two.
[KL] RSI 14 + 10 StrategyThis strategy uses RSI14 for entry and exit signals; applies RSI10 for confirmation. The thresholds can adjusted in Settings.
Trailing stop can also be applied if wanted.
Tested on daily/hourly charts.
Delta-RSI Strategy (with filters)Delta-RSI Strategy (with filters):
This is a version of the Delta-RSI Oscillator strategy with several criteria available to filter entry and exit signals. This script is also suitable for backtesting over a user-defined period and offers several risk management options (take profit and stop loss).
Since the publication of the Delta-RSI Oscillator script, I have been asked many times to make it compatible with the Strategy Tester and add filtering criteria to minimize "false" signals. This version covers many of these requests. Feel free to insert your favorite D-RSI parameters and play around!
ABOUT DELTA-RSI
Delta-RSI represents a smoothed time derivative of the RSI designed as a momentum indicator (see links below):
INPUT DESCTIPTION
MODEL PARAMETERS
Polynomial Order : The order of local polynomial used to interpolate the relative strength index (RSI).
Length : The length of the lookback frame where local regression is applied.
RSI Length : The timeframe of RSI used as input.
Signal Length : The signal line is a EMA of the D-RSI time series. This input parameter defines the EMA length.
ALLOWED ENTRIES
The strategy can include long entries, short entries or both.
ENTRY AND EXIT CONDITIONS
Zero-crossing : bullish trade signal triggered when D-RSI crosses zero from negative to positive values (bearish otherwise)
Signal Line Crossing : bullish trade signal triggered when D-RSI crosses from below to above the signal line (bearish otherwise)
Direction Change : bullish trade signal triggered when D-RSI was negative and starts ascending (bearish otherwise)
APPLY FILTERS TO
The filters (described below) can be applied to long entry, short entry and exit signals.
RELATIVE VOLUME FILTER
When activated, the D-RSI-driven entries and exits will be triggered only if the current volume is greater than N times the average over the last M bars.
VOLATILITY FILTER
When activated, the D-RSI-driven entries and exits will be triggered only if the N-period average true range, ATR, is greater than the M-period ATR. If N < M, this condition implies increasing volatility.
OVERBOUGHT/OVERSOLD FILTER
When activated, the D-RSI-driven entries and exits will be triggered only if the value of 14-period RSI is in the range between N and M.
STOP LOSS/TAKE PROFIT
Fixed and trailing stop loss as well as take profit options are available.
FIXED BACKTESTING START/END DATES
If the checkboxes are not checked, the strategy will backtest all available price bars.
[KL] BOLL + MACD Strategy v2 (published)This strategy will look for opportunities when price touches the lower Bollinger band, then enters Long when it anticipates a MACD crossover signal.
Setup: on 1-day chart interval
Exits when either (a) hitting trailing stop loss, or (b) meeting risk-to-reward, if defined by user.
