Day Separator (HuntsPip)

31
Day Separator (HuntsPip) adds alternating background shading and day-of-week labels to intraday charts, making it easy to visually distinguish each trading day at a glance. It helps traders maintain clear visual organization of their charts by highlighting daily boundaries, enabling quicker identification of intraday patterns, and day-of-week tendencies without cluttering the chart with additional indicators.

█ CONCEPTS

When working on intraday timeframes, it can be difficult to tell where one trading day ends and another begins - especially on charts with small candles and no natural visual breaks. Day separation helps traders maintain context about which day they are looking at, which is useful when reviewing multi-day price action, planning around specific days of the week, or simply keeping the chart organized.

Some traders also find it helpful to differentiate weekdays from weekends, particularly on instruments like crypto that trade around the clock. Weekend price action often behaves differently due to lower participation, and having a visual distinction on the chart can help traders keep that context in mind without needing to check dates manually.

█ WHAT IT DOES

This tool applies alternating background shading across the chart so that each day is visually distinct from its neighbors. Weekdays use a subtle alternating tint, while weekends can be highlighted with a slightly stronger shade and a separate color. A text label showing the day name is placed at a user-specified time on each day, either at the top or bottom of the chart.

The indicator only operates on intraday timeframes below 4 hours, where day-level separation is visually meaningful. It automatically limits the number of weeks displayed on the chart to keep things clean, and all visual elements - shading, labels, colors, and label format - are fully customizable. Day labels can be shown in short format (MON, TUE, WED) or full format (MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY).

█ FEATURES AND USAGE

DISPLAY
  • Highlight Weekdays - Toggles the alternating background shading for Monday through Friday. A color picker next to the toggle controls the shading color.

  • Highlight Weekends - Toggles the background shading for Saturday and Sunday. Uses a separate color picker so weekends can be visually distinct from weekdays.

  • Show Labels - Toggles the day-of-week text labels on the chart. A color picker controls the label text color.

DAY SEPARATOR
  • Time - Sets the time of day where the label is placed on each day, using 24-hour format. Adjust this to position labels where they are most visible on your chart.

  • Maximum Weeks - Controls how many weeks of day separators are shown on the chart. Range: 1-4. Lower values keep the chart cleaner; higher values give more historical context.

  • Day Length - Sets the label text format.

      - Short - Displays abbreviated names (MON, TUE, WED, etc.).

      - Full - Displays full names (MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, etc.).

  • Position - Controls whether day labels appear at the top or bottom of the chart.

      - Top - Labels are placed at the top of the pane.

      - Bottom - Labels are placed at the bottom of the pane.

This tool works on any instrument and is designed for intraday timeframes below 4 hours. It pairs well with session indicators or any multi-day intraday analysis where keeping track of individual days adds clarity. The shading and labels are purely visual aids and do not generate any trading signals.
